IOC Plans Global Ban on Transgender Women in Female Sports by 2026

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is set to introduce a global ban on transgender women competing in female sports categories by 2026, led by IOC President Kirsti Coventry. The move aims to address concerns about physical advantages retained by athletes born male, even with reduced testosterone levels.

Coventry advocates for a single global rule to safeguard the competitiveness of female athletes. However, not everyone agrees with this approach, as the International Paralympic Committee has cautioned against hasty policies regarding transgender participation.
