Iran to Face Nigeria's Super Eagles in March Friendly

The Iranian Football Association announced that Iran's men's national team will face Nigeria's Super Eagles in an international friendly match scheduled for March 27, 2026. The confirmation came from Amirmahdi Alavai, the spokesperson for the Iranian FA, on February 17, 2026.

The venue and kickoff time for the match have yet to be decided. This match is part of Iran's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Iran has been drawn into Group G of the tournament, alongside Belgium, Egypt, New Zealand, and Nigeria. The last encounter between Nigeria and Iran occurred during the group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, which ended in a goalless draw.

Nigeria's Super Eagles failed to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup after losing to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final African playoff. However, the Nigeria Football Federation is pursuing an off-pitch route to maintain the team's chances for a final ticket to the competition.
