Pezeshkian Vows Retaliation After Khamenei’s Killing

Iranian President Pezeshkian issued a statement condemning the killing of Supreme Leader Khamenei, describing it as a significant crime that would not go unanswered. He warned of the consequences behind the attack and pledged a forceful response.

In his statement, Pezeshkian declared a seven-day public holiday to honor the late leader, who had been Iran's Supreme Leader since 1989, succeeding Ruhollah Khomeini after the 1979 Islamic Revolution that toppled the Shah. The nation is currently in a mourning period, which has already been declared for 40 days.
