Iranians Mourn Khamenei as Protests Erupt in U.S.

On Sunday, reports confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, aged 86, allegedly due to a missile strike coordinated by the United States and Israel. In response, thousands of Iranians gathered at Enghelab Square in Tehran, displaying Iranian flags and photographs of Khamenei while mourning his death.

The announcement of Khamenei's death led to heightened national tensions, with U.S. President Donald Trump declaring the news, prompting widespread mourning and protests across the United States.

Demonstrators criticized Trump for initiating military action without congressional approval. In Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed to avenge Khamenei's death, reportedly launching retaliatory attacks targeting U.S. and Israeli interests in the Middle East.

Amid these developments, an interim leadership was announced, consisting of a three-member transit council, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, to oversee the country's affairs until an assembly of experts selects a new Supreme Leader.
