NLC Demands Action from FG Over Rising Petrol Prices

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued five urgent demands to the Federal Government regarding the rising price of petrol, which they attribute to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. The NLC stated that the recent increase in fuel prices has worsened economic hardships for Nigerian workers and citizens.

They argue that the government must ensure the welfare and security of its citizens. The demands, submitted in a statement titled "Save Nigerians," include an immediate wage award to cushion the rising cost of living, an overhaul of the cash transfer program to ensure transparency and assist vulnerable citizens, and tax relief for low-income earners.

Additionally, the NLC called for the full rehabilitation and proper management of public refineries in Nigeria to prevent price fluctuations. They emphasized that the refineries should be fully operational to mitigate the impact of crude oil price increases in the international market.
