Iran Warns UN Against Provocative Actions in Hormuz

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a warning to the UN Security Council against "provocative action" concerning the Strait of Hormuz. This statement comes ahead of a scheduled vote on a draft resolution intended to mandate the protection of ships in the vital shipping lane, which is crucial for global energy flow.

The vote, initially set for Friday, has been postponed with no new date announced. The draft resolution was brought forth by Bahrain and authorized US defensive forces to protect vessels against Iranian attacks.

The 15-member Security Council was expected to vote on this resolution, but earlier drafts faced objections from member states, including Russia, China, and France.
