Nigerian Islamic Groups Caution Muslim Leaders on Tax Reform Interference

The Coalition of Islamic Organizations for National Development in Nigeria has warned Muslim leaders and clerics against unwarranted interference in ongoing tax reform discussions. The group stressed that tax reform is an economic and administrative issue, not a political one, urging for a technocratic approach by relevant government institutions.

Sheikh Abdulrahman Musa, the coalition's national coordinator, highlighted the importance of expert analysis and stakeholder engagement in the constitutional process, emphasizing the need to avoid inflaming religious tensions. The statement called for a focus on moral guidance and social harmony rather than making pronouncements on technical fiscal policies beyond their expertise.
