Nigerian football legend, Taribo West, expressed disappointment in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for allegedly ignoring the family of late goalkeeper Peter Rufai regarding burial expenses. Rufai, who passed away at 61 on July 3, was a key player in Nigeria's 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and 1998 FIFA World Cup campaigns.

West criticized the NFF and Lagos State Government for neglecting Rufai's family, leading them to seek online donations for the burial. West, a former Super Eagles player, vowed that his son would never represent Nigeria due to the treatment of fallen heroes like Rufai.
