Nigerian legend Taribo West has criticized the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for allegedly ignoring the family of late goalkeeper Peter Rufai when it came to burial expenses. Rufai, who passed away at the age of 61 on July 3, was a key player in Nigeria's 1994 Africa Cup of Nations victory and the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

West expressed disappointment in how the NFF and Lagos State Government neglected Rufai's family despite his contributions to the nation. He revealed that Rufai's family had to resort to online begging for funds for the burial.

West vowed that Rufai's son would never represent the country due to the lack of respect shown to his father. This incident has sparked outrage among former Nigerian footballers, with many criticizing the authorities for abandoning a national hero like Rufai.
