Lawyer Asserts President Cannot Reverse Pardon, New List of Inmates Affected

Legal practitioner and political analyst Frank Tieti stated that the President does not have the constitutional authority to reverse a pardon once it has been granted. This statement comes after a fresh list of inmates affected by the revocation of their earlier presidential clemency was released.

The list, disclosed by the President's Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, includes individuals like Maryam Sanda, who had her death sentence for killing her husband in 2020 commuted to 12 years in prison. Tieti made these remarks during an interview on Arise Television, emphasizing that the judiciary, not the presidency, holds the power to exercise such authority.
