Flamingos Triumph in 2026 WAFU B U-17 Women’s Tournament

The Nigeria U-17 women's national team, known as the Flamingos, secured victory in the 2026 WAFU B U-17 women’s tournament by defeating the Togo U-17 team 4-0 on the final match day. This win marked Nigeria's flawless performance throughout the tournament, finishing with five wins from five matches, making them the first team to achieve such a record in this regional championship's second edition.

Harmony Chidera scored two penalties, while Umejiaku Oluebube and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi contributed one goal each. Chidera's first penalty came in the 15th minute, followed by another in the 35th minute.

Oluebube scored in the 67th minute, and Adegbuyi sealed the victory with a goal in the 90th minute. Nigeria ended the tournament with 15 points, six points ahead of Ghana, who previously held the title.

This victory boosts the Flamingos' confidence as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled in Morocco from October 17 to November 7.
