Doctor Recalls Dele Giwa's Tragic Final Moments

Dokun Adedeji, a doctor at First Foundation Medical Center, provided a detailed account of Dele Giwa's final moments after he was injured by a parcel bomb. Speaking at the launch of 'Dele Giwa’s Granite Journalism' at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Lagos State, Adedeji recalled being alerted by another doctor about Giwa's condition.

Upon arrival, he found Giwa's wife, Funmi, covered in blood. Adedeji and his team rushed Giwa to the emergency room, where he was conscious and asking about his daughter, Aisha.

Despite their efforts, Giwa's injuries were severe, with both limbs open and ongoing bleeding. Adedeji noted that Giwa expressed a desire to live but ultimately passed away around one o'clock.

Adedeji reflected on the emotional impact of the event, stating that it was better for Giwa to have died given the extent of his injuries. He also mentioned the ongoing search for Giwa's killers, which remains unresolved.
