US Lawmakers Target Kwankwaso, Says NNPP's Yesufu

Abubakar Yesufu, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), expressed that the targeting of former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso by US lawmakers was not unexpected. This statement came in light of reports that US lawmakers are initiating a new bill aimed at increasing accountability for human rights abuses in Nigeria.

The proposed legislation, known as the Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2026, includes provisions for potential sanctions against groups such as the Fulani militia. During an interview with Arise Television, Yesufu remarked that American lawmakers are attempting to checkmate Kwankwaso's profile and the support he commands.
