Obi Urges Tinubu to Retire, Critiques Leadership Failures

During an interview on Channel Television’s Sunday Politics, Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, criticized President Bola Tinubu's leadership, stating that he is leading Nigeria in the wrong direction and lacks the necessary commitment to address the country's challenges. Obi advised Tinubu to retire peacefully, asserting that the current president is not the same as the governor he once was and is now "tired." He emphasized that Tinubu's leadership is ineffective, saying, "As it is right now, Bola Tinubu is leading us nowhere." Obi referenced a World Bank report indicating that 79% of Nigerians are facing poverty, which translates to over 180 million people in a population of 230 million.

He expressed concern over issues such as insecurity, hunger, and poor leadership, urging political leaders to prioritize these critical issues ahead of the 2027 general elections. Obi called for discussions focused on the ordinary citizens' challenges, including out-of-school children and health issues.
