Iwobi Shines as Fulham Defeats Sunderland 3-1

On Sunday afternoon, Alex Iwobi played a pivotal role in Fulham's 3-1 victory over Sunderland, ending a three-match losing streak in the Premier League. Iwobi delivered a perfect corner in the 54th minute, which Raul Jimenez headed in to break the deadlock.

Seven minutes later, Fulham was awarded a penalty after referee Craig Pawson reviewed a foul by Brian Brobbel on Calvin Bassey. Jimenez converted the penalty, marking his 13th successful penalty in the Premier League.

Sunderland responded in the 76th minute with Dan Ballard's effort leading to a penalty converted by Enzo Le Fee. However, Fulham secured the win with a third goal from Harri Wilson, who assisted Iwobi for a calm finish five minutes before the end.

This match marked Iwobi's first goal since December and his return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished third. Fulham's win also marked their first league victory since beating Brighton 2-1 on January 24, moving them above Sunderland in the league standings.
