JAMB Candidates Abducted in Benue State Attack

On Wednesday evening, between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, fourteen candidates preparing for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations were abducted in Benue State. The victims, primarily young men and women, were ambushed by armed attackers along the route from Makurdi to Otukpo.

Maxwel Ogiri, the chairman of the Otukpo Local Government Area, confirmed the incident, stating that one passenger managed to escape the attack. The Benue State Police, led by Ifeanyi Enemari, confirmed the development and noted that a police team was deployed to rescue the victims.

Enemari explained that the attack occurred on a route typically used by the Benue Link transport company, which was operating outside approved hours. Efforts to obtain comments from the transport company were unsuccessful, and the police public relations officer, DSP Udem Edet, stated she had not yet received an official report on the incident.
