Jigawa State Council Approves 2026 Budget Review

The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a review of the 2026 Appropriation Law and a proposed supplementary budget to reflect the current revenue realities and emerging expenditure priorities. Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, announced this decision following a State Executive Council meeting held on Monday.

The review is deemed necessary due to changes in the state’s revenue outlook, including adjustments to capital revenue sources and the reversal of previously proposed savings from certain expenditure lines. Additionally, new expenditure priorities requiring government attention prompted this review.

The revised 2026 budget and supplementary budget will be forwarded to the Jigawa State House of Assembly for consideration and legislative approval. Governor Umar Namadi had previously signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, which totals over N901 billion.
