Jigawa State Increases 2026 Budget by N46.37 Billion

On September 8, 2026, Hon. Sagir Ahmad Musa, the Commissioner of Information, announced a N46.37 billion increase in Jigawa State's 2026 budget, raising it from N901.841 billion to N948.210 billion. This adjustment was prompted by changes in the state's revenue outlook, including new capital revenue sources and the reversal of proposed savings from certain expenditure lines.

The revised budget reflects a 5.1 percent increase over the original budget and aims to align public expenditure with available resources while ensuring critical programs receive adequate funding. The review is part of the administration's commitment to prudent fiscal management and transparency.

Following the Executive Council's approval, the revised budget and a supplementary budget will be forwarded to the Jigawa State House of Assembly for legislative approval. Hon. Musa expressed optimism that the review would enhance the implementation of the fiscal program and allow the government to respond effectively to changing economic circumstances.
