Jigawa State Approves N1.6bn for Dry Season Agriculture

The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a budget of N1.6 billion for the implementation of a dry season agriculture program. This initiative is designed to support agricultural workers by providing essential inputs, irrigation support, mechanization services, and extension services to ensure optimal production during the dry season.

Mr. Sagir Musa, the state commissioner for youth, sports, and culture, announced this decision during a press briefing following the council meeting on Tuesday.

The program aims to boost crop yield, stabilize food supply, and reduce post-harvest losses across the state. Additionally, the council approved the purchase of 86 housing units from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development at a total cost of N853,138,929.56, which aligns with the Namadi administration's 12-point agenda to provide housing and promote decent shelter, thereby addressing the accommodation needs of public servants and improving the welfare of citizens.
