Jigawa State Approves N853m for Public Servants' Housing

The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the purchase of 86 housing units for public servants, with a total expenditure of N853,138,929.56. Mr.

Sagir Musa, the state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, disclosed this decision during a press briefing following a council meeting. This initiative is part of the state government's broader strategy to tackle housing challenges and expand access to affordable housing for public servants, aligning with Governor Umar Namadi's 12-point agenda on housing and urban development.

The average cost per housing unit is approximately N9,920,000, which is consistent with federal housing schemes and falls within the range of federally subsidized estate prices. The council's decision reflects a commitment to promoting decent shelter and reducing housing deficits in Jigawa State.

Additionally, the council discussed plans for the 2025 dry season rice cultivation program, with N1.6 billion allocated for the implementation of a rice input voucher system.
