JOHESU Urges Governor Makinde to Resolve Workers' Arrears

The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde for intervention concerning the management's failure to comply with directives on the payment of promotion and other arrears owed to union members. In a statement by Comrade Olajide Bukola Rebecca, Medical and Health Union chairman, and other union leaders, they noted the urgent need for action on unpaid arrears, deteriorating infrastructure, and the protection of workers' rights.
While acknowledging the governor's previous support for workers' welfare, they expressed concern that only 20 percent of the actual liabilities for promotion arrears from January 2018 to September 2024 were addressed, resulting in an outstanding balance of nearly 80 percent. The union also listed demands including payment of 50 percent of promotion arrears for late 2024, salary arrears for recalled and reinstated staff, and funds for hospital renovations and equipment procurement.
