Joke Silva Celebrates 65 Years of Impact in Nigerian Arts

Joke Silva, at 65, has established a remarkable career spanning over four decades, making her one of Nigeria's most respected actresses. Her journey began at the University of Lagos cultural centre and included roles with the Nigerian Television Authority, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, and the National Theatre.

Silva trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London before returning to Nigeria, where she gained acclaim for her versatile performances in theatre, television, and film. She co-founded the Lufodo Group with her late husband, contributing significantly to Nigeria's performing arts through Lufodo Productions and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts.

Silva has received numerous accolades, including five Africa Movie Academy Awards and Nigeria’s national honour for her cultural contributions. Her influence extends to mentoring emerging talents and advocating for women's empowerment and human rights, solidifying her legacy in Nigerian storytelling and the arts.
