Jonathan Prepares to Contest 2027 Presidency on PDP Ticket

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is reportedly preparing to run for the presidency again in the 2027 general elections under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. Senior officials within Jonathan's political circle have confirmed his decision to align with the PDP, describing it as a calculated move to return to power amid the country's economic hardships and rising insecurity.

Jonathan has already begun mobilizing support and raising funds, with various political groups backing his candidacy, including the Goodluck Jonathan Northern Base Political Organisation and the Goodluckian Movement. Although the PDP nomination form is expected to cost N100 million, Jonathan has yet to publicly declare his intent to run.

However, he is actively consulting and has completed his registration as a member of the PDP, as clarified by party spokesman Ini Ememobong. Additionally, there are ongoing legal considerations regarding his eligibility to contest, given that he has previously served two terms in office.
