Mourinho Aims for Champions League Glory with Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho, the manager of Real Madrid, has publicly stated his intention to win the UEFA Champions League during his second tenure at the club, which began in June 2025. This declaration came ahead of Real Madrid's Group Stage opener against Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday.

Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, securing one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey, and one Supercopa de España, but he did not win the Champions League, facing three semifinal exits. In his pre-match press conference, he emphasized that his current role should not be seen as an attempt to rectify past disappointments.

He acknowledged the significance of the memories associated with the Bernabéu, where he experienced both triumphs and failures, but asserted that these do not influence his current approach. Real Madrid, who last won the Champions League in 2024, has not secured a major trophy in the past two seasons, coinciding with Kylian Mbappe's arrival at the club.
