Justice Joseph Oyewole Sworn in as Supreme Court Justice

Justice Joseph Olubunmi Oyewole was sworn in as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on February 25. The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Keker Ekun, in a ceremony held at 2 PM in the Supreme Court complex in Abuja.

This appointment follows the recent retirement of a justice upon reaching the mandatory retirement age. Prior to his elevation, Justice Oyewole served on the Court of Appeal as the President of the Enugu Division.

A statement from the Director of Public Relations of the Supreme Court, Festus Akande, highlighted that Oyewole's appointment underscores the commitment of the Nigerian judiciary to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice. It was noted that the new justice will bring a wealth of legal expertise and integrity to the apex court, enhancing its capacity to deliver fair and timely judgments, thereby rejuvenating the judiciary and maintaining high standards of justice.
