Judge Escapes Bandit Attack in Katsina Courtroom

On Wednesday, a Shari’ah Court judge, Mohammed Muktar, narrowly escaped death or abduction during a bandit attack in Gwarjo village, Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State. The incident occurred around midday when heavily armed men invaded the court, firing shots and demanding the judge's whereabouts.

Muktar noticed suspicious movements and fled through a window moments before the attackers entered the courtroom. A commercial motorcycle rider assisted him in escaping the area.

The bandits, enraged upon discovering Muktar's absence, searched the premises and threatened to kill him if he returned to preside over court sessions in Gwarjo. This attack is part of a troubling trend of violence against judicial officers in northern Nigeria, raising concerns about the safety of public institutions and the administration of justice in conflict-affected regions.

Residents fear that such incidents could disrupt judicial activities and leave many cases unresolved until security improves.
