Justice Tsoho Under Investigation for Asset Declaration Failures

Justice Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, is under investigation for allegedly failing to declare multiple bank accounts as required by Nigeria's Code of Conduct Law. According to documents reviewed, Tsoho omitted several accounts, including those held at Unit Bank Africa and Access Bank, from his asset declaration form submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau on April 29, 2024.

The law mandates that public officials declare their assets, including bank accounts, upon assuming office. Failure to do so can lead to sanctions, including removal from office.

This situation draws parallels to the case of Walter Onnoghen, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, who was convicted for similar omissions in 2019. Tsoho was first appointed as acting Chief Judge on July 26, 2019, and later confirmed by the Senate on November 5, 2019.

The investigation into Tsoho's conduct comes amid heightened scrutiny of the judiciary, led by Kudirat Keker Ekun, the chair of the National Judicial Council.
