Justice Tsoho Fails to Appear for Asset Declaration Inquiry

Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, allegedly did not appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) as scheduled on March 16, 2026, concerning allegations of failing to fully declare his assets. According to a statement from Catherine Christoph, the Director of the Federal High Court, Justice Tsoho requested to reschedule the appearance to a more convenient date within the week of March 16 to allow for legal counsel, Kanu Agabi, to attend.

Sources claim that Justice Tsoho was advised against appearing by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. He faces allegations of not fully declaring assets, including multiple bank accounts, with accusations of omitting three accounts from his asset declaration submitted on April 29, 2024.

This omission could violate Section 15 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, which mandates public officials to declare their assets and liabilities. Additionally, reports surfaced that Justice Tsoho's wife was intercepted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission while traveling to Benue State, with $160,000 found in her possession, although official clarifications from the CCB are pending.
