Zamfara State Assembly Members Defect from PDP to APC Amid Leadership Crisis

Six members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to internal party crisis and dissatisfaction with the state governor's leadership. The defectors include Hon.

Bashar Aliyu Gummi, Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi Maru, Barr.

Bashir Abubakar Masama, Hon. Bashir Bello Bungudu, Hon.

Amiru Ahmad Keta, and Hon. Muktar Nasir Kaura.

They accused Governor Dauda Lawal of poor leadership, neglecting security challenges, and failing to fulfill campaign promises. The lawmakers invoked Section 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution to justify their defection.
