Aisha Yesufu Loses NDC Ticket for 2027 FCT Senate Race

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent socio-political activist and co-founder of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, suffered a significant setback by failing to secure the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket for the 2027 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate race. In the recent primary elections, Barrister Amanda Pam emerged victorious, leveraging her extensive grassroots network and longstanding loyalty to the party.

Pam, who previously served as the Deputy National Legal Adviser for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and held the position of Secretary for Health and Human Services in the FCT, had a distinct advantage due to her experience in party administration. Yesufu, who recently switched her allegiance from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC, campaigned energetically prior to the primaries, touring various council areas within Abuja and sharing her legislative blueprint focused on critical sectors such as security, healthcare, and education.

Following her victory, Pam will advance as the official NDC candidate for the Abuja senatorial seat in the highly competitive 2027 general elections, facing off against incumbent Senator Ireti Kingibe of the PDP and veteran politician Philip Aduda of the Labour Party (LP).
