Court Vacates Arrest Warrant for PDP Chairman Turaki

On Wednesday, an Abuja High Court vacated the bench warrant issued for the arrest of Kabiru Turaki, the factional chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The ruling followed an oral application made by Turaki's lawyer, Uche, who explained that Turaki had returned to the country and went directly to court to apologize for his absence during the last hearing.

The lawyer emphasized that Turaki's prior absence was neither intentional nor an attempt to disrespect the court. The prosecution confirmed no objection to the application, noting that the purpose of the arrest warrant was to ensure Turaki's appearance in court.

Justice Kekemek acknowledged Turaki's voluntary attendance and accepted the lawyer's apology, leading to the formal vacating of the arrest warrant. The court also struck out a motion seeking to stay the execution of the warrant and adjourned the matter to April 22 for Turaki's arraignment on charges including providing false information to the police.
