EFCC Monitors Ekiti Polling Unit Amid Vote-Buying Concerns

On Saturday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrived at polling unit 003 located in Okelel Ward 06, Ikogosi, Ekiti West Local Government Area, at 9:05 AM, shortly after voting commenced at 8:30 AM. This deployment was part of the EFCC's efforts to monitor the electoral process amid widespread concerns regarding vote-buying and voter inducement in Ekiti State's governorship election.

The presence of the EFCC was noted as they positioned themselves around the polling environment to observe voter activities and ensure compliance with electoral guidelines. Although the EFCC did not issue a public statement regarding their presence, it was believed to be connected to ongoing efforts to curb electoral malpractice.

The election was reported to be peaceful at the time, with 668 registered voters in the polling unit. The incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, was seeking re-election against candidates from several opposition parties.
