Youth Chase EFCC Officials from Ekiti Polling Unit

On Saturday, during the Ekiti State governorship election, a confrontation occurred at a polling unit in Ward B, Iyinsan, where youth chased away officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The EFCC personnel were reportedly present to monitor the election and prevent vote-buying practices, which have become a significant concern during elections in Nigeria.

Voters questioned the rationale behind the EFCC's presence, leading to the officials leaving the area. Voting continued peacefully without disruption.

This incident coincided with heightened scrutiny of electoral conduct, as Kemi Bejid, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleged incidents of vote-buying and assault at polling units. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had deployed electoral officials and materials across Ekiti State for the election, while security agencies were mobilized to ensure a credible and peaceful electoral process.
