Ex-NNPC Boss Mele Kyari Detained by EFCC Over Financial Misappropriation

Former NNPC Group CEO, Mele Kyari, was detained by the EFCC in Abuja over allegations of massive financial misappropriation related to a billion-naira fund earmarked for Nigeria's refinery maintenance. Kyari voluntarily submitted to the EFCC following an official summons.

He is being interrogated regarding financial transactions linked to the refinery maintenance program. This detention comes after Kyari was placed on the EFCC watchlist amid fraud allegations during his tenure at the national oil company.

The Federal High Court in Abuja also ordered the freezing of four bank accounts linked to Kyari pending investigation.
