FG Bans Open Grazing Nationwide Over Insecurity

The Federal Government of Nigeria has banned open grazing nationwide to tackle increasing violence linked to the practice. The Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Mukhtar Maiha, emphasized the need for herders to adopt ranching as a safer and more beneficial alternative.

The move aims to reduce conflicts, improve cattle health, and open up commercial opportunities in the livestock sector. The decision was welcomed by Adamawa State's Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, given the state's significance in livestock production.
