FG Secures 386 Terrorism Convictions in Mass Trial

The Federal Government of Nigeria has achieved 386 convictions in a mass trial concerning terrorism suspects, as announced by Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi. This significant legal exercise, which took place at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, involved a total of 508 cases.

The trial commenced on April 7, 2026, and concluded on April 10, 2026, marking the ninth phase of a series of mass trials aimed at addressing terrorism-related offenses. During this phase, eight defendants were discharged, two were acquitted, and 112 cases were adjourned for future proceedings.

Fagbemi emphasized the government's commitment to due process and the rule of law, stating that anyone found not guilty would not be imprisoned. He also highlighted the importance of the judiciary's oversight role in these proceedings.

The next phases of the trial are scheduled for June 15-18, 2026. Additionally, the Attorney General commended the leadership of Chief Judge John Tsoho and the trial team for their dedication during this period.
