Anambra Governor Soludo confirmed the assassination of a councillor in Owerr Ezukala during the governorship election in Orumba South LGA. The incident occurred as the councillor attempted to cast his vote.

Governor Soludo praised security agencies for preventing disruptions during the election. The election saw Soludo seeking re-election under APGA, defeating candidates from APC, YPP, PDP, and LP.

A viral video also showed police firing gunshots in celebration after Soludo's re-election was declared.
