Nigerian Health Workers Commence Nationwide Strike Over Unresolved Issues

The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) in Nigeria has initiated an indefinite nationwide strike starting on November 15, 2025, citing the federal government's failure to address welfare and salary concerns. Despite assurances, the implementation of salary adjustments has been delayed, leading to tensions within the healthcare sector.

The strike is expected to heavily affect healthcare services in federal and state-owned facilities. The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) is also on an indefinite strike, worsening the healthcare workers' working conditions.
