Nigerian Resident Doctors Begin Nationwide Strike Over Unmet Demands

The Resident Doctors Association (NARD) in Nigeria has initiated an indefinite nationwide strike starting on November 1, 2025, citing the government's failure to address their 19-point demands related to welfare, salaries, and working conditions. The strike is expected to disrupt healthcare services in government-owned hospitals.

Dr. Muhammad Suleiman, the NARD President, highlighted issues such as unpaid salaries, poor working conditions, and the dismissal of resident doctors.

The association is urging President Bola Tinubu to intervene to prevent a collapse of the healthcare system.
