House of Reps Speaker Swears in Three New Members

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas, swore in three new members following the victory of five lawmakers in the August 16, 2025 elections. The new members filled vacant seats left by deceased representatives, including Dennis Idahosa, Ekene Adams, Isa Dogonyaro, Olaide Akinremi, and Oriyomi Onanuga.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections in affected states to fill the vacancies, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing four out of the five seats. The swearing-in ceremony welcomed Omosede Igbinedion, Joseph Bagudu, and Mukhtar Rabiu as the newly elected members representing various federal constituencies.

The event marked a significant step in maintaining the House's representation and legislative functions.
