Kano Commissioner Resigns After Governor's Party Defection

Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, the Commissioner of Science, Technology, and Innovation in Kano State, has resigned from his position with immediate effect. His resignation came after Governor Abba Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria's People's Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Kofarmata cited the prevailing political turmoil in the state as the reason for his resignation, expressing concerns about the independence and impartiality required for his office amidst the growing tension and loyalty allegiances. He emphasized the need for the commission to function without undue influence or partisan pressures.

Kofarmata thanked the Kano State Government for the opportunity to serve and expressed hope that his resignation would enable the institution to operate without constraints. Governor Abba Yusuf's resignation and switch to the Progress Congress prompted Kofarmata's decision to step aside to safeguard the credibility of his office and uphold his commitment to ethical public service.
