New INEC Chair Joash Amupitan Sworn in by President Tinubu

Professor Joash Amupitan, the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), arrived at the Presidential Villa in Abuja for his official swearing-in ceremony by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The event marked the formal commencement of his tenure as the head of Nigeria's electoral body.

Amupitan's appointment followed a rigorous screening exercise by the Senate, and he pledged to prioritize electoral reforms to restore credibility to Nigeria's electoral process. He succeeds Professor Mahmood Yakubu as the sixth substantive head of INEC.
