The Ogun State government has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, a public holiday to mark the annual Isese Day celebration. Governor Dapo Abiodun's Special Adviser on Information Strategy, Mr.

Kayode Akinmade, stated that the introduction of Isese Day as a public holiday reflects the governor's recognition of the state's heritage. The day is set aside to celebrate Yoruba religion and tradition, with activities such as prayers, dances, and sacrifices.

This move aims to foster a sense of community and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people. Similar declarations were made by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, emphasizing the importance of upholding cultural values and heritage.

Work is expected to resume on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after the public holiday.
