Presidency Claims Obi Can't Defeat Tinubu in 2027

The presidency has asserted that Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate, will not be able to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Bayo Onanuga, a special adviser to the president, made this statement on Wednesday, arguing that Obi lacks a significant leadership record and has not demonstrated the capability to challenge Tinubu effectively.

Onanuga criticized Obi's tenure, claiming he failed to provide security and lacked original ideas, describing him as a copy of past politicians, including his successor, Willie Obiano. In contrast, Onanuga praised Tinubu's administration in Lagos State for leaving behind long-term development plans, including a rail master plan that continues to influence the state's growth.

The presidency's remarks come amid increasing political exchanges as the 2027 election approaches, with Obi being a prominent opposition figure whose governance record is often scrutinized.
