Kogi Residents Protest Insecurity After Bandits Kill 3 Police Officers

In Kogi State, residents of Egbe in Yagba West local government area staged a protest following the killing of three police officers by bandits. The protesters, including youths and elderly persons, blocked roads and set tires ablaze to draw attention to the rising insecurity in the community.

Videos showed military vehicles trailing demonstrators as they demanded an end to insecurity and protection from the Federal Government. The police confirmed the attack, stating that the officers were killed at a checkpoint in Egbe.

The community members accused some residents of aiding kidnappers by renting houses to informants supplying items to criminal elements, raising fears of increased kidnapping incidents in the area.
