Nigerian Senate Cuts INEC Election Notice Period in Half

The Nigerian Senate has approved a motion proposed by Senator Tahir Monguno to reduce the timeline for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish election notices from 360 days to 180 days. Monguno explained that the adjustment was necessary to enable INEC to meet the requirements for public notice, considering the upcoming 2027 elections.

This decision aims to address the delay in the publication of election notices and ensure timely preparations for the next general elections.
