Wike Criticizes Amaechi Over Son's Role in Protest

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, criticized former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi for his son's presence at a recent protest at the National Assembly. During a keynote address on Tuesday, Wike described the act as political showmanship, questioning the effectiveness of bringing a medical doctor to provide emergency support at the protest.

He accused Amaechi of hypocrisy, stating that if someone fell ill, there was no medical equipment or ambulance available. Wike also highlighted the double standards in Amaechi's demands for electoral reforms, pointing out that he failed to act when in power.

Wike's remarks came in the context of a protest organized to challenge the Senate's rejection of mandatory electronic transmission of election results, which Amaechi attended to show solidarity.
