Wike Criticizes Amaechi for Protest with Son

Nyesom Wike, during a keynote address at the 2026 Distinguished Person Lecture Series at the Faculty of Social Sciences, criticized former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi for participating in a protest alongside his son. Wike highlighted that Amaechi did not bring any medical equipment or ambulance for his son, who was present at the protest demanding electronic transmission of results for the 2027 elections.

Wike mocked Amaechi's decision to bring his son, suggesting it was a reflection of his belief in leadership and physical presence during significant protests. Wike accused Amaechi of hypocrisy, pointing out that while he now clamors for transparency and electoral reform, he remained silent during his time in influential government positions.

Wike attended the event accompanied by his two sons, further emphasizing his stance on the issue.
