Kaduna Assembly Reviews Nursing College Campuses' Merger

The Kaduna Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Henry Danjuma, is considering a review of the law that established a nursing college to facilitate the de-merger of its three campuses. Ali Kalat, the member representing Jema’a Constituency, announced he is preparing a bill aimed at reversing the merger, which was intended to enhance institutional performance but has led to significant administrative difficulties.
Kalat pointed out that the current structure, where the Provost operates from the Tudun Wada campus and the Kafanchan and Pambegua campuses are managed by deputy provosts, has hindered effective communication and timely funding. He argued that restoring the campuses' independence would allow for better resource management, address infrastructure issues, and improve the quality of professional training.
The Speaker has instructed Kalat to present the existing law for review, and relevant House committees will assess the proposed amendments before the bill advances through the legislative process.
