Kebbi Assembly Approves Amendments for Tertiary Institutions

On Tuesday, during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, the Kebbi State House of Assembly passed two significant amendment bills aimed at enhancing the administrative and operational frameworks of two state-owned tertiary institutions. The bills, namely the Kebbi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega (Amendment) Law of 2025 and the Kebbi State College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kebbi (Amendment) Law of 2025, were introduced following a thorough review by the House Committee on Higher Education, chaired by Dr Suleiman Abubakar Fana.

The committee consulted with officials from both institutions before presenting its recommendations. After a clause-by-clause consideration in the Committee of the Whole, the House adopted the committee's reports and the amendments.

The bills were subsequently read for the third time and passed into law via a voice vote. These amendments are expected to significantly impact the governance, administration, and operational procedures of the two institutions.

The next step involves transmitting the bills to the Kebbi State Governor for assent.
